About Shannon Olson

Travel was a favorite activity in my life from a very young age. From backpacking in Australia in my early twenties to quick trips to Mexico, LA and Vegas later during university. After falling in love with travel, I took a Travel Counsellor course and graduated in 2009. Shortly thereafter we moved to Doha, Qatar. I set up shop with the support of a long-time local travel agency. They gave me the support I needed to run a successful Expat Travel Lady biz out of my villa, helping expats book their many escapes all over the world. Living in a fascinating city and jumping off point to so many beautiful destinations was very exciting. I have booked many trips to the Maldives, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, India, Europe and Southeast Asia just to name a few.

In 2015 we moved to The Hague, Netherlands for 4 years. Another exciting location full of travel possibilities. I scoured Europe every chance I had! Living in the EU let me travel beyond the usual tourist spots. Some of our favorite days were spent on a boat exploring the lake district in Northern Italy, beer tasting at Oktoberfest in Bavaria, Germany and discovering the many small private beaches and alcoves in Croatia. We spent many sunny warm weeks in Spain and Portugal golfing and visiting art galleries. I enjoy planning all travel in Europe as it creates memories that last forever and is easily & safely travelled by a large group or a solo traveler. Multi-country/city explorer EU tours are a favorite of mine to design.

I enjoy booking Polar Excursions to Greenland & Antarctica, luxury cruises to the Galapagos Islands, booking a room at the only hotel in Machu Picchu National Park, African safaris, European tours and much more. Health & Wellness, Adventure, Small Luxe Groups, LGBTQ+, Special Events and Luxury travel with a focus on sustainability and eco-friendly options are my travel specialties.

 If something goes wrong on my vacation, can you help me?

Definitely! That’s what I’m here for. I am available 24/7 as well as having local contacts on the ground where you are to assist you. Please be advised, I can’t control airline delays and decisions, but I can certainly help you rebook if there is a schedule change that doesn’t work for you or a hotel isn’t providing the room and benefits we requested. Travel insurance is highly recommended and a must these days for unforeseen emergencies that can occur. I will give you a quote when booking.

 Do you have any fees?

Yes, I do. I have spent years acquiring education and invaluable travel information from all over the world. As travel agents we must stay on top of all the travel news – daily. This takes time and expertise that I use when booking your travel excursion – but it’s not free. You’re also paying for me to be available at anytime on your vacation if you need some assistance if something goes wrong. Please ask me for a list of my fees which vary depending on the travel options you need.

What kind of travel do you prefer to organize?

I specialize in FIT (Flexible Independent Travel) travel. The components of an itinerary may resemble a package, but the itinerary is custom made for my client and incorporates their travel budget, dates, activities, style, destinations and dreams. Bespoke holidays to far away destination such as the Middle East, Asia, Australia & New Zealand, Polar Excursions, European tours, African safaris and exploring South America are just a few of the places I can plan for. I use up to date and local information from the most outstanding travel suppliers who live on location.

Do you give travel presentations?
